Get to know A.J. Shields

A.J. was raised in Richland and proudly calls this city home.  He acquired his management skills from both the Richland Fire Department, where he quickly advanced to the rank of Captain, and by running successful businesses for over 20 years.  Now, A.J. wants to share his disciplined work ethic, conservative values, and common sense approach in the capacity of Alderman.

3rd generation Richland resident (raising the 4th generation)

Loving husband and father to a Christian family with conservative values

Served with the Richland Fire Department for over 13 years where he advanced to the rank of Captain and is a Certified Smoke Diver.

Earned Basic, Advanced, and Professional level Certified Municipal Official within first elected term 

Achieved the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America

Multiple recognitions as a business as owner of HydroSheilds, LLC

Richland will be recognized statewide as a beautiful and safe place to raise families, operate and grow successful businesses, and proudly call home.

Mission Statement

In an effort to materialize my vision for the City of Richland, I will:

Work hard with other elected officials and the various departments within the city to encourage and maintain a beautiful city.

Strive to ensure that public safety and transportation conditions encourage business interests for Richland.

Focus on community involvement as a priority to ensure an environment for sustainable projects and activities.

Most of all, BE TRANSPARENT and LISTEN to the voices of the men, women, and children that make up this great city.
